Did you know that disability costs our society more than 4 billion euros a year? It is an expense that is paid also by every working person.
Vocational rehabilitation offered by earnings-related pension companies reduces the number of disability pensions. In 2016 (2015), Varma spent EUR 37.5 (33.9) million on rehabilitation, which translates to savings of EUR 399 (372) in pension expenditure.
Continuing at work also benefits the individual, as the income earned from work is usually much higher than pension. Wages also accrue more pension. By increasing awareness and eliminating the threat of disability, considerable financial benefits can be achieved for individuals, companies and society as a whole.
Varma’s CEO Risto Murto invites you to Varma Hack
Rise to the challenge and develop a rehabilitation support service
Develop a clear, easy-to-use and responsive digital service that can help motivate people to remain in or return to working life.
Knock our socks off with an appealing and entertaining service that we can integrate with Varma’s current digital services. Create something entirely unique that revolutionises the earnings-related pension industry’s services, which are considered rather uninspired.
The service you create will help to increase the use and success of Varma’s digital rehabilitation services and decrease the number of disability pensions.
What can I do?
Not enough is known about how disability can be prevented. Anyone of us can develop workability problems. What steps should be taken when brief periods of sick leave become a regular occurrence or an individual can no longer cope with their work duties?
More information on rehabilitation is available at varma.fi/rehabilitation. In mid-March, we will launch a new digital service aimed at our vocational rehabilitation customers. If you are a Varma customer, you can learn more about the service as of 14th March in Varma’s eServices, which requires logging in using your personal Finnish banking codes.
