Last month we had the pleasure of hosting the first event of Agile Search, a Nordic tech recruiting company, here at HUB13. We have discussed the event with Natalia Koryakina, the event organizer, to find out the story behind it.

Why Full-Stack?

Initially, Agile Search wanted to organize a themed and informal event around a topic that would attract the interest of developers. They wanted to bring the speakers and participants together to discuss a topic that is very hot nowadays, with many having various opinions – what exactly Full-Stack is.

This way, it was not surprising at all that the speakers had different views on the topic. A full-stack developer, according to many, is expected not only to handle the front and back-end development of a project, but also to understand the system architecture and be able to maneuver from infrastructure (hardware, operating systems, etc.) to designing and querying databases. Having a holistic approach to software development allows the developer to also do better project management and create better specifications and documentation in order to deliver high-quality results on time. Additionally, many agreed that nowadays a real full-stack developer is also a designer and a businessman.

The Challenge

Agile Search wanted to only attract a limited audience of potential full-stack developers, so the invitations were really targeted. The problem was that usually those people would not go to common recruitment events – they need a very interesting topic or great speaker(s) in order to attend.

They also had a special format in mind for the event – it was expected to be informal and flexible enough so that it would not remind of the usual corporate events, but rather spark conversations and build connections.

The event needed a special kind of a venue – not an auditorium, but a creative space in downtown Helsinki to be able to have separate areas for the speeches, company stands & networking, and rooms for speed dating.

Agile Search + HUB13 = Successful event!

Despite all concerns, the event turned out to be very successful! The audience of more than 80 full-stack developers were buzzing with interest, enjoying speeches and later the food, drinks, desserts, and good network.

With HUB13’s help, Agile Search was able to fulfil their requirement for a special venue, storage to keep the desserts cool, and space management during and after the event.

The attendees liked the event, and it made us feel happy! HUB13 helped as a host, everything was well-prepared and organized. Hope that our next event at HUB13 will be even a greater success!
